What is ISO9000? It is an international standard, which indicates that a company has an effective quality system and that the company has demonstrated its commitment to providing a quality product or service.
When did ISO9000 Begin? ISO9000 was developed in 1987 by the Geneva-based International Organization for Standardization, a body that sets standards that apply to processes and systems that impact on an organization's trading capabilities. The guiding principles of ISO9000 is "Say what you do, do what you say, and prove it".
What does it mean to achieve ISO9001? Is 9002 or 9014

Of the various ISO9000 standards, ISO9001 is the most comprehensive in scope, confirming processes conformance from the initial development of product through production, testing, installation, and servicing. It is not a question of better, but of specific areas addressed in the standards.
What does ISO2000 mean?
Effective the year 2000, the standard developed in 1994 were revised and reduced from 20 components to 8. In effect the accountability factor has been tightened resulting in an easier, smoother system with the outcome being better, more reliable products and services.
To achieve registration a company needs to "Say what you do", "do what you say", and prove it through documentation of the systems and processes. Organizations are assessed by a third party, accredited registrar through initial registration audits, followed by maintenance audits to ensure long-term adherence to standards as well as the opportunity to continually refine and improve on what is being done. The object is to give the customer quality, consistency and value.
The benefits are many, but the most important is the customer knows they are dealing with a world-class company.
